We expect our 2012 agenda to be available in June 2012. Each year, The SRI Conference offers sessions focused on investment and practice management issues, as well as sessions presenting expert commentary and interactive dialogue on various timely social issues, shareholder advocacy strategies, and community investment opportunities. We expect to provide 6-8 hours of CE credit to Certified Financial Planners.

Q: Will presentations be recorded?
A: Yes. The conference content is so rich that we record all presentations. All 2012 presentations will be uploaded to the website after the conference.

Q: Who attends The SRI Conference on Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing?
How many conference attendees do you expect this year?
Do I need to be a licensed investment professional to participate?
A: The SRI Conference is designed to stimulate, inspire and serve the needs of people who are actively involved in the sustainable and responsible investment industry (SRI). About one-third of the expected 600+ participants will be licensed investment professionals serving investor clients; about one-third will be representatives of SRI mutual fund companies, asset managers, social research organizations and other product/service providers to the industry; and about one-third will represent non-profit organizations, community development financial institutions, religious organizations, and other groups that work with the SRI community on various social change initiatives.
Q: This will be my first conference experience. Is there anything special that I should know?
A:

Be prepared to discover that The SRI Conference feels a lot like a community gathering of the SRI industry. Many participants know each other, work closely together in a variety of ways, and have been attending the conference for many years.

We also seek to make it easy for first-time participants to begin to feel that they too are part of the community. You will want to attend our New Participant Orientation. This session will assist you in understanding the size, scope and dynamic nature of the group that gathers at The SRI Conference; give you a feel for the flow of the agenda; and introduce you to some of the leaders in the industry. In addition, there will be several other events and sessions designed to help you meet as many new friends and colleagues as possible, and quickly come to feel an integral part of the SRI community.

Award Presentations
Q: What's the Moskowitz Prize?
A:

The Moskowitz Prize is awarded annually at The SRI Conference for excellent academic research on a topic germane to the sustainable and responsible investment industry by the Center for Responsible Business at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley.

The Prize is named after research pioneer Milt Moskowitz, one of the first to look for the connection between good corporate citizenship and profitability. Summaries of the winning studies are available through the Center's website.
Q: What's the SRI Service Award?
A:

Presented each year at The SRI Conference, the annual SRI Service Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the socially responsible investment industry. Conference participants cast ballots at the conference for nominees who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, high standards of professional conduct, and accomplishment in collaboration with other industry leaders.

Q: What is the EthicMark® Award?
A:

Founded in 2004 by Hazel Henderson, author of Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy, the EthicMark® Award recognizes socially responsible media campaigns by businesses, non-profit organizations, or individuals.

The EthicMark® Award is presented annually at the The SRI Conference. The World Business Academy executes the award with the Award's co-sponsors, Ethical Markets Media, LLC, and the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.
Conference Hosts, Producers
Q: Who hosts and produces the conference?
A: The SRI Conference on Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing is produced by First Affirmative Financial Network in collaboration with a number of SRI industry organizations. You will see a lot of your conference hosts throughout your stay at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center - on stage, in the hallways, on the dance floor... Our goal is to make your conference experience as valuable and memorable as possible.

Q: I am physically challenged and cannot walk very far. Should I attend?
I am in a wheelchair. Will I be able to get to all of the sessions?

Elevators

Elevators are located throughout the property and parking garages at Mohegan Sun and are accessible to all persons with disabilities.

Restrooms

Numerous restrooms are located throughout the property and all are accessible to those with disabilities. A number of unisex or companion care restrooms are also available.

Wheelchairs

The Mohegan Sun Conference Center offers wheelchairs, free of cost, for those who require them. Services are located at all coat check locations.

Scooters

Motorized scooters are available for rent at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center. The scooters are available for $30.00 per day. To make a reservation, please contact their reservation center at 888.320.4577. If you are not able to make a reservation, you are welcome to request a scooter from a Coatroom Attendant at any of the coatrooms.

Please note that a scooter is not guaranteed without a reservation and is subject to availability. You are welcome to call the reservation center if there are any questions or if you would like further information.

Internet Access
Q: Will there be internet workstations available for participant use?
A: Yes. There will be CyberStations in the exhibit area with high-speed internet access available free of charge for participant use. 

Complimentary wireless internet access is available in meeting space and all public areas of the Mohegan Sun Conference Center.

The facility fee of $9.95 per room per day, inclusive of tax, includes in-room hard wired internet access.

Q: Where is the Mohegan Sun Conference Center?
How do I get there?
A:

The Mohegan Sun Conference Center is located in southern Connecticut on 240 acres along the banks of the Thames River in the town of Uncasville, Connecticut.  It is approximately one mile from the interchange of I-395 and Connecticut Route 2A, in the heart of the scenic foothills of southeastern Connecticut.  It is within easy access of New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence and located 15 minutes from the museums, antique shops and waterfront of Mystic Country.

Q: What kind of climate can I expect in October?
A:

In early October, we can expect a flashy show of fall colors.  Temperatures are frequently in the 60's Fahrenheit, but may dip to the 40's or rise to the 70's.  Expect crisp, cool nights and refreshing days.  As with the leaves, it is a time of change.  Bring layers to wear for maximum comfort and flexibility.
Lodging
Q: What kind of lodging is available at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center?

What is the room rate?  What dates does the rate cover? Is there an early departure fee?  Is there a cutoff date to receive the discounted conference rate?

Reservations must be made on or before September 11, 2012 to receive the discounted group rate.

The discounted room rate is $199. per night, exclusive of taxes, for single or double occupancy.  The current local tax rate (as of November 2011) is 15%.

A facility fee of $9.95 per room per day, inclusive of tax, provides the following:  access to the fitness center and pool, unlimited phone calls and up to 30 minutes of toll free usage, in-room hard wired internet access. 

In order to accommodate conference participants who plan to arrive early or stay late, this group rate is available for stays between September 26th and October 7th. 

Early Departure:  If a guest checks out prior to the reserved checkout date, an early checkout fee of $75. will be charged.  To avoid the early departure fee, the hotel must be notified at or before check-in if there is a change in the planned length of stay.

Q: Are spouses and families welcome?
Is childcare available?
A: Spouses and families are welcome.

For guests with children, Mohegan Sun features Kids Quest/Cyber Quest family entertainment complex. Staffed by licensed professionals who are trained in first aid and CPR, Kids Quest is geared for children six weeks to twelve years old.  It also features a non-violent video arcade and the new Family Adventure Club where parents can join their children for some quality family fun.  The Family Adventure Club is available prior to the opening of Kids Quest each day and features activities such as karaoke, basketball and arcade & video games.
Meals
Q: Are meals included in my registration fee?
Will there be vegan or vegetarian choices at the meals?
Is it possible for the kitchen to accommodate special needs?
A:

Six meals, breaks and receptions are included in your registration fee: Dinner, Tuesday, October 2nd through lunch on Thursday, October 4th. There will be vegan or vegetarian choices available at all meals.

Q: What kind of networking opportunities can I expect?
A: From start to finish, from our New Participant Orientation session to the Reception and Networking Event, the Lunch Topic Tables and beyond, a primary goal of The SRI Conference is to provide participants with multiple networking opportunities. You will find conference attendees extraordinarily friendly. Don't be shy!
Q: Are there opportunities for small groups to gather around a topic of special interest?
A: Yes. In addition to the presentations and sessions listed on the conference agenda, lunch on Thursday, October 4th features Topic Tables. These are popular conversation circles that provide an informal opportunity for participants to share ideas on topics of mutual interest. Topics range across a broad spectrum of issues. Look for a table sign that sparks your interest and join the group. A few tables will have blank signs to allow groups to form spontaneously. Just write your topic, post your sign, and others will join you.
Packing Suggestions
Q: What suggestions do you have for packing?
A: Before packing, please check the weather online to avoid any surprises!

Attire for the conference is business casual (no ties!). In October, we can expect cool, crisp nights and refreshing days.  Temperatures may range from the 40's to the upper 60's to low 70's Fahrenheit. 

Most conference events will occur indoors.  

You may want a swimsuit for use in the pools, and workout clothes for the gym.

Recreation
Q: What kind of recreation is available at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center?
A:

Plan to come early, and/or stay a day or two after the conference.  There are many activities onsite as well as within easy travel distance.

Onsite, there are many retail outlets, restaurants and entertainment options.

Offsite, 15 minutes away is Mystic, including Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Aquarium, and Olde Mistick Village (www.mystic.org).

Q: How do I register for The SRI Conference?
A: Online registration will be available starting in February. Credit card payment is required for online registration.  For mail-in registration, you may print out a registration form, complete it, and mail it in with a check.  For phone registration, please call our Conference Coordintor, Krystala Kalil. at 888.774.2663.  We will accept onsite registration, but would much prefer to have a name badge and registration packet ready for you. Q: I can't come to the full conference. May I register and pay for a portion of it?
A: The cost of attending The SRI Conference is significantly lower than any comparable financial conference, particularly considering that all meals are included in the registration fee. The conference operates on a very tight budget.

In 2012, we offer a day rate for Wednesday, October 3rd, only.  The rate is $500. 
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: Refund requests will be granted less a $100. administrative fee for full registrations, $50. for $450. registrations through September 7, 2012. Thereafter, no refunds will be available.

Q: Does the conference provide transportation to/from any of the nearby airports?
Do I need a rental car?
Can I sign up for a carpool list?

The SRI Conference does not provide transportation between the nearby airports and the Mohegan Sun Conference Center.

Q: Are there any rental car discounts available?
A:

We are pleased to pass on rental car discounts from Avis and Hertz. 

For Avis, the Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) Number for The SRI Conference is J996266.  You may book a rental by calling 1-800-331-1600 with the discount number, or by using the following link.  The discount number will autofill into this reservation form.  The discount is effective 7 days prior to the conference until 7 days after the conference.

With more than 13,000 on-site patron parking spaces, parking at the Mohegan Sun is never a problem.

All uncovered, self-parking lots are clearly marked with non-stop shuttle service that brings you right to the doors.

Is valet parking available?

24-hour valet parking service is available at the Sky, Hotel and Summer Valet porte-cocheres.

Yes, valet parking is complimentary. The recommended gratuity is $5.00.

Where is the closest gas station?

The 24-hour Mohegan Sun MOBIL Gas Station and Convenience Store, located on the outbound lanes of Mohegan Sun Boulevard, provides quick and easy access.

Coming from the North, South, East, maybe the West? Wherever you depart from, line buses operate on a regular schedule and through a number of companies.
